Doctor Appointments

The practice offers 2 types of Doctors appointments:

Non Urgent Appointments

Intended for follow up appointments and ongoing medical problems. These are available each weekday afternoon and some evenings. They can be booked up to 2 weeks in advance at a time of your convenience and with the Doctor of your choice. They can be booked face to face at the reception desk, via the telephone or see Book an appointment online.

Urgent On the Day Appointments

To be seen urgently you will need to contact the surgery between 8.30am and 11am. The receptionists will ask you a couple of questions, then you will be given a time to come down and see a GP.

We will ask if you have seen a GP recently about this problem, and if you have, we will try to maintain continuity and put you with the same GP. If this is a new problem, you will be given the next available appointment slot with any GP; unfortunately, you will not be given a choice.

We know that sometimes female patients prefer to see a female GP for female related conditions. When available we will try to accommodate this.

Nurse Appointments

A ange of Nurse appointments are available each weekday morning and afternoon. These can be prebooked up to 12 weeks in advance via the reception desk or via telephone.

Please be aware that the receptionist will need to ask the reason for the appointment in order to allocate the correct nurse and the correct amount of time.

Home Visits

Home visits are intended only for those people who are too unwell to attend the surgery. For example, patients that are terminally ill, or truly bedbound.

Home visits are not usually required for common symptoms of childhood, fevers, cold, earache, diarrhoea and or vomiting and most cases of abdominal pain. These patients are usually well enough to travel by car.

The belief that it is unwise to take a child out with a fever is a myth. While these children may not be fit to travel by bus or walk, car transport is a practical option that can be arranged through friends, relatives, or taxi services.

Please telephone the surgery if possible before 11am to arrange a home visit. This enables the doctor to plan their visit list.

How to Cancel an Appointment

If you are unable to attend for your appointment we expect at least 24 hours notice, except in extreme cases, so that we are able to offer another patient the use of that appointment.

You can tell us using one of the following methods:

  1. Accurx:
Use the Consult with your Doctor online service and tell us you need to cancel.
  2. NHS App or Patient Access:
Cancel Your Appointment online using the NHS App or Patient Access.
  3. Telephone:
Please call us on 01782 948 988 and tell the receptionist.
  4. Test Message:
By following the link in your appointment reminder text message.

We can offer your appointment to someone else and therefore help to reduce waiting times.

We have a STRICT policy for patients who regularly miss their appointments which may ultimately result in the removal of them and or their family from the practice list.
