Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month; this is an annual campaign where we aim to increase awareness of this disease.

We want to ensure everyone is aware of the signs and symptoms of breast cancer; everyone knows what is normal for them; encourage a conversation with their GP if something doesn’t feel right and attend a breast screening appointment when invited.

If a breast cancer is found at an early stage then treatment can be simpler and more successful.

Breast Screening is a national screening programme for all women aged 50 to 70 years old, who are invited to attend a mammogram every 3 years at a specialist screening unit. The aim of breast screening is to detect an abnormality before you have any signs or symptoms.

If you have any questions regarding local screening information, please contact the North Midlands Breast Screening Service 0300 123 1463 or message North Midlands Breast Screening Service on Facebook
